help your procedure go smoothly

properly preparing for your tattoo will make both the tattoo experience and healing results much better. check out the helpful pre-procedure tips below!

prepare

ONE WEEK BEFORE YOUR TATTOO:

Drink lots of water the week leading up to your appointment; hydrated skin helps the procedure go smoother & your healing happen faster. Most humans are chronically dehydrated, so try to become BFFs with your water bottle.

Apply a light, daily dose of fragrance-free, dye-free lotion or cream to your skin (Unscented Lubriderm & Eucerin Aquaphor are great options and can also be used for aftercare!)

Keep the area to be tattooed free from sun exposure, abrasions, bruises, or acne (to the best of your ability). If the area to be tattooed is damaged by any of the above, we will be unable to perform the tattoo procedure and your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

Do not shave the area to be tattooed! I will do that for you at your appointment to give us the smoothest and cleanest canvas for tattoo application! Try to stop shaving the area one week prior to your appointment.

If you feel sick or are in contact with anyone who has been sick, any issues with your skin, please reschedule. See our info page for cancellation policies.

Double check your confirmation email for appointment details, cost & timeline. Familiarize yourself with the shop location on and plan your route accordingly.

Try to get lots of sleep the night before your appointment. A rested body allows both the procedure and the healing to go much smoother.

THE DAY OF YOUR TATTOO APPOINTMENT:

Eat a proper meal 1-2 hours before your appointment. The procedure of tattooing can sometimes shock the body or nervous system; a full belly and higher blood sugar helps to avoid this!

Feel free to bring any drinks or snacks for little pick me ups during your session (there’s also some little treats in the shop).

Come to your appointment freshly showered or with proper personal hygiene. We are doing a medical procedure on your body, so having it clean reduces risk! Furthermore, we are working in close physical proximity together for long periods of time: clean bodies are always appreciated.

Do not shave the area to be tattooed; I will do that!

Do not wear perfumes or heavy fragrances; I aim to keep my space scent-free for myself & my clients who have sensitivities.

Wear an outfit that is comfortable and allows access to the area to be tattooed. Soft, loose and layered clothing makes for easy adjustments to temperature. Your clothing will be protected to the best of our ability, but try not to wear your fave things. Black is recommended if possible.

Do not drink alcohol or do drugs before your appointment.

Bring your government issued photo I.D.

Feel free to bring additional items that will make you even more comfortable during your tattoo procedure like a book, your phone, headphones, stim toy, stuffed animal, etc. Some emergency supplies are on hand; if you end up needing a boost, please ask!

Cash is the preferred form of payment. CIBC, RBC, BMO & EKC are all less than 2 blocks north of the shop (so don't worry about carrying cash for long or far).

Ensure you arrive to your appointment on time. Double check the shop location details in your email so that you are confident in where you are going and don't get yourself stressed right before your tattoo. Give yourself enough time to get to the shop (including travel, parking, walking, etc).

Please be punctual (not any earlier or later than 15 minutes). I am an appointment based business and can not accommodate any changes in scheduling; arriving late will cause a cancellation and a forfeiting of your deposit.
